09/29/16 River Report
River Flow  139 CFS - Visibility Clear - AM Water Temp 58'F. -A slight chance of showers before 3 pm. Cloudy, with a high near 65. Northeast wind around 13 mph  - CT DEEP biologist Mike Humphreys stocked 3,100 Survivor Strain Brown Trout in the HOUSY on Wednesday (09/27/16) !!! - The cooler water temps and moderately higher flows  have the remaining resident  trout  coming out of the thermal refuges and actively feeding in the TMA. -  Trout and Smallmouth Bass are putting on the fall feed bag !! - The fish are taking daytime BWO's and evening ISO's on the top!! -  The daytime streamer bite is still going strong. - With the river flow at 139 CFS it is easy wading almost anywhere in the Housy. - Today is a perfect day to get up here and throw some Rubber Legs for a bunch of smallies or trout !! - FALL IS BASS & TROUT FISHING TIME!!

Trout are coming out of the thermal refuges and have started moving around and feeding in the TMA. - BWO's starting to show during the day. - Look for Iso's in the evenings. -  Look for Trout behind exposed boulders in all the deeper riffles & pools. - Streamer fishing is the way to go during daylight hours.

AM River Water Temp 58' - River Flow 139 CFS. - Morning Air Temp 51'- Today's Air Temp High 65' - Tonight's Air Temp Low 52' -  The trout are putting on the fall streamer bite as they move back into the TMA !! - DEEP is modifying the existing closure signs posted at the Furnace Brook refuge area to reflect the extension of the closure. All water within 100 feet of these signs will remain closed to all fishing through September 29. Violation of the closure is an infraction with a fine of $154. - CT ENCON OFFICERS ARE STRICTLY ENFORCING THIS EXTENDED CLOSURE. - REPORT ANY VIOLATIONS TO THE TIPS HOTLINE. - 1-800-842-4357
