09/22/16 River Report
River Flow 182 CFS - Visibility Clear - AM Water Temp 60'F. - Sunny, with a high near 82. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the morning. - The river is at 182 CFS this morning !!! - This is the highest flow we've seen in two months ! - Finally we have the much needed cooler water temp of 60' this morning. - The cooler water temps and higher flows  have the trout  coming out of the thermal refuges and actively feeding in the TMA. -  Trout and Smallmouth Bass are putting on the fall feed bag !! - The fish are taking daytime flying ants and evening ISO's on the top!! -  The daytime streamer & evening popper bite is still going strong. - With the river flow at 182 CFS it is easy wading almost anywhere in the Housy. - Fishing above the dam by boat has also been producing some nice pike and smallmouths.  - Today is a perfect day to get up here and throw some Rubber Legs for a bunch of those big smallies or trout !! - BASS & TROUT FISHING IS GREAT!!

Trout are coming out of the thermal refuges and have started moving around and feeding in the TMA. - Flying ants during the day. - Look for Iso's in the evenings. - Bass Popper Bite Is HOT during the late afternoon and into the evening!! -  Look for Bass  behind exposed boulders in all the deeper riffles & pools. - Fish the side channels of the power house in Falls Village for Bass or Carp. - Lot's of exposed river structure to target at the power house - Popper & Streamer fishing is the way to go during daylight hours.

AM River Water Temp 60' - River Flow 182 CFS. - Morning Air Temp 51'- Today's Air Temp High 82' - Tonight's Air Temp Low 58' -  The trout & bass are starting to put on the fall streamer bite as they move back into the TMA !! - DEEP is modifying the existing closure signs posted at the Furnace Brook refuge area to reflect the extension of the closure. All water within 100 feet of these signs will remain closed to all fishing through September 29. Violation of the closure is an infraction with a fine of $154. - CT ENCON OFFICERS ARE STRICTLY ENFORCING THIS EXTENDED CLOSURE. - REPORT ANY VIOLATIONS TO THE TIPS HOTLINE. - 1-800-842-HELP
