09/19/16 River Report
River Flow 92 CFS - Visibility Clear - AM Water Temp 64'F. - Today's forecast is for clouds and rain showers with a possible thunderstorm before 3PM. Finally we will get some much needed water. - Today will still be a good day to fish with the overcast skies as the bigger fish will be taking advantage of the conditions to feed! - The cooler water temps have let the trout come out of the thermal refuges and have started moving around and feeding in the TMA. - DEEP is modifying the existing closure signs posted at the Furnace Brook refuge area to reflect the extension of the closure. All water within 100 feet of these signs will remain closed to all fishing through September 29. Violation of the closure is an infraction with a fine of $154 with ENCON officers enforcing this closure seriously.

Smallmouth Bass are getting ready for the fall by putting on the feed bag !! - The fish are taking daytime flying ants and evening ISO's on the top!! -  The daytime streamer & evening popper bite is still going strong. - Fish the upper TMA as this area holds lots of smallmouths that haven't seen much fishing pressure. - The pike, bass and carp fishing is still hot right now at the power house in Falls Village. - Fishing above the dam by boat has also been producing some nice pike, large largemouths and smallmouths. One client had 3 pike on the fly in one outing, including two larger fish! - Today is a perfect day to get up here and throw some Rubber Legs for a bunch of those big smallies or trout !! - With this flow it's a good opportunity to fish pools and riffles that are normally unwadeable. - This is the time of year to come up to study the HOUSY river bottom structure and understand how the fishing holes are laid out. - Don't forget to take pictures of the river bottom with landmarks for future refrerence. - Besides the BASS & TROUT FISHING IS GREAT!!

Trout are coming out of the thermal refuges and have started moving around and feeding in the TMA. - Flying ants during the day. - Look for Iso's in the evenings. - Bass Popper Bite Is HOT during the late afternoon and into the evening!! -  Look for Bass  behind exposed boulders in all the deeper riffles & pools. - Fish the side channels of the power house in Falls Village for Bass or Carp. - Lot's of exposed river structure to target at the power house - Popper & Streamer fishing is the way to go during daylight hours.
