08/12/16 River Report
River Flow 172 CFS - Visibility Clear - AM Water Temp 74'F. - The fishing is HOT just like the weather!! Make sure you have a crayfish pattern on you these days as the river is loaded with them and the fish are targeting them. Ants and hoppers are starting to pick up and the fish are looking up earlier in the day, but afternoon and evening is best!!! Also reports of some yellow sallies starting to join in the mix. The water is at a good flow to target the hungry smallies, pike and carp. A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Partly cloudy, with a high near 89. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph - We now have lower water levels to make a perfect day to get up here and throw your favorite popper on the stream for some of those big smallies. - Also the pike and carp fishing is hot up behind the dam. With this flow it's a good opportunity to view your favorite haunts and study the structure and flows - it will only help you in higher flows to understand how the fishing holes are laid out.
Carp are in the deeper pools in the TMA. - Try dragging some Woolly Buggers, crawfish or Big Stone Fly Nymphs by them. - Fish the side channels of the power house in Falls Village for Bass or Carp. Lot's of exposed river structure to target at the power house - Look for Bass in the TMA behind newly exposed boulders in the deeper pools. - Nymphing & Streamer fishing is the way to go during daylight hours.
