10/28/16 River Report
River Flow 309 CFS - Visibility Clear - AM Water Temp 44'F. - Time to start thinking fishing the Housy this weekend! Plenty of big fish just stocked and events here at the store! So come visit us! - On 10/26/16, CT biologist Mike Humphreys stocked 1200 Big Rainbows up to 17" in the TMA !!! - So get on up this weekend to Cornwall Bridge and enjoy a beautiful October day catching Big Rainbows on the Housy !! - At this time of year it's best to get on the river a little later in the morning. - This gives the sun a chance to warm up the river a couple degrees. - The fish become more active and the warmer water will bring on the BWO hatch. - Fishing has been great in the Corner Pool, Monument, the Park & the Wall. - Other productive spots are Push-em Up, Garbage Hole, Cellar Hole, Sand Hole & the Elms. - HOUSY Trout are putting on the fall feed bag !! - The fish are taking daytime BWO's on the top and CDC emergers in the film !! - With these higher river flows the Daytime Soft Hackle and Streamer Bite is still going strong. - Today is a perfect day to get up here and deep nymph with some BH Prince's and Rubber Legs!!

Trout are feeding all thru the TMA. - BWO's showing mid-morning thru the afternoon. - BWO CDC Emergers are the ticket for picky risers in the Park. - An effective day time technique is to swing soft hackles to sipping rises. - This is a perfect way to imitate swimming crippled BWO nymphs. - Also try nymphing deep during the day with a two fly rig.- On your two fly nymph rig start with a BH Prince and add a small Pheasant Tail or Hares Ear as the second fly. - Swing streamers for Trout behind exposed boulders in all the deeper riffles & pools. - Streamer fishing is a great way to cover water and to find fish. - Go back and deep nymph over any river section that produced takes on streamers.
