River Report
River Flow 407  CFS - River Visibility - Clear - River Cover - ICE -  Sunny, with a high near 34. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. - AM Water Temp 32' - Am Air Temp 15' - High Air Temp 34' - PM Low Air Temp - 27'

Sunny this morning. - We are going to have an afternoon high of 34' today. - There is plenty of snow in Cornwall Bridge.... So come up and snowshoe the trails on Mohawk Mtn and the AT. -Call the shop at 860.672.1010 to rent a pair of snowshoes - The stove is lit and the shop is warm.  Come on in and check out the new fly tying materials from Wapsi Fly. With our cooler mornings, try waiting til mid-morning to begin your fishing day. - By waiting a couple of hours after sunrise, this gives the sun some time to warm up the river a degree or two. - This slight warming of the river tends to get the fish on the bite. -  River is clear and every rock he turned with leaf debris had scuds jumping to the surface. -  Swinging big streamers in the morning is a great tactic to find big agressive fish. - Nymph the riffles and pocket water with Big Brown or Yellow Stone Fly Nymphs with a Scud dropper or tie on 2nd Scud and swing them along the banks. -It's time to start fishing  Egg Patterns, San Juan Worms, Scuds and Sucker Spawn as Browns are into Spawning Mode.

Now for the fishing conditions.  ICE   The river is at  407 CFS - AM Water Temp 34'. - Sunny this morning. - We are going to have an afternoon high of  27'  today. - With our cooler mornings, try waiting til mid-morning to begin your fishing day. - By waiting a couple of hours after sunrise, this gives the sun some time to warm up the river a degree or two. - This slight warming of the river tends to get the fish on the bite.  - Start your morning by swinging big streamers.  - Swing some soft hackles like; Spiders, Hares Ear or Pheasant Tails. - It's time to start fishing some Egg Patterns, San Juan Worms, Scuds and Sucker Spawn as Browns get into the Fall Spawning Mode. - Tune-up your fly vest by cleaning out the last year's leaders & tippet spools and replace them with fresh leaders & tippet spools for this year. Reorganize your flies into new boxes. Check your vest to see if you need more floatant, lead shot, strike indicators or tippet rings.  If your fly line is becoming stiff or cracked it's time to change it. You can bring your fly reel into the shop and we can machine wind a new fly line with free backing !!  If your favorite rod has broken guides, tip tops, missing hook keeper or needs new wraps.......Bring it down to the shop for repair.  

We like the following patterns: Eggs, Sucker Spawn, Scuds and San Juan Worms. - Streamers: John's Lion Bugger, G's Catch'Em All, Circus Peanuts,  Zonkers, Woolly Buggers, Pick Yur' Pocket - Soft Hackles: Spiders, Hares Ear or Pheasant Tails - Nymphs: Golden Stone (8-10) BH Hares Ear (12-16), BH Princes (10-16), BH Pheasant Tails (12-18), Rubber Legs (all colors), 20 Incher's (8-16) & Euro Bead Head Princes. Don't forget to try a Chartreuse or Yellow Stone Mop Fly, too. We recommend a drop rig for maximum effectiveness and use an indicator to make sure you don't miss any takes. Try the AirLock indicators if you haven't already. They are the best!
