  Fall is here!!
"Fish Longer - Live Longer"
Montana 2007 - Updates From Twin Bridges Montana - September 8th - September 14th

Located on the Housatonic River:
Cornwall Bridge, Connecticut - 860-672-1010

David Weiner landing a pig of a trout on a Spring Creek in Montana

Day #1
We fished private ponds, and the beaverhead - fishing was great in the morning - slow during the mid-afternoon - and superb in the late afternoon - the weather was windy and cool and tons of little baetis around - but few rising fish.

Dr D. with a pig of a brown trout

This brown was feeding like a bonefish - and was caught with a slowly retrieved Scud by Dr. D.- it measured 26 1/2 inches - eat your heart out Torrey and Aaron

And me with an average fat rainbow - many more pics to come.

Day 2
We are having a great time - we fished a private spring creek and the Beaverhead River - tomorrow we are fishing private water on the Ruby - Clark Canyon Resevoir and the Madison.  Most of the fishing is on streamers and nymphs - the hatches have not been heavy enough to get the fish rising - as the weather warms we expect more hopper action.

I could not believe it - they catch a 21 inch fish on the private spring creek - and this is the only picture they get - they are fired.  Look at the size of that fish in the net.

David Weiner with a happy smile.

Day 3
What a Day - lots of big fish caught - Nick landed a 26 inch 7 pounder out of Clark Canyon Resevoir - I cannot read his disk - so it will be posted upon our return - but what a hog of a rainbow.  The rest of us fished spring creeks and landed some real big fish.  The weather has warmed and the hoppers are back in action - forest fires burning in Idaho are beginning to create a smoky haze on the horizon.  We are eating lots of steak - and the food in general is excellent.  Everyone is having a great time.

The view in the morning from the lodge - It doesn't get any better.

The guide holding a pig I landed - woohoo

Day 4

The smoky haze is increasing - but the fishing is getting better - the warmer temps have really gotten the fish extremely active - we all fished spring creeks today - the fishing was slow in the morning - but we slammed them in the afternoon - oh baby - some big rainbows and browns landed today.  Everybody wants to come back next year.

David Weiner holding a pig he landed on a hopper - hoppers worked on their spring creek - but not on ours - we used streamers with great success - Toar - took a digital movie of this fish rising to the hopper and the entire fight - I will have the movie on the website next week.  All I can say is wow - what a pig.

These football shaped rainbows were all over the place - we caught a couple dozen of these in the afternoon - I hooked some monster browns - but could not land any of them.

Our guide Bart - holding one of these fat rainbows.

I have turned into a cowboy on this trip - these fat rainbows fought like tigers on these small spring creeks.

Dr. D. and Bart holding yet another fat rainbow - we caught so many of these we lost count - life could be worse.

This big rainbow was my last fish of the day - a natural colored zonker did the trick all afternoon - a pig in every hole on this spring creek.  Just one more day - Day 4 will be hard to top - but we will see.  The group all wants to give Torrey and Aaron - "To bad you are missing all the great fishing"

Day 5

Another spectacular day - fished the Ruby, a private pond and another private spring creek - big fish - great day - we are going again next year - same week in September.

Our guide with a nice brown on the Ruby

Me with a hog I took out of a spring creek - with a width less than 3 feet this stream produced some real quality fish.

Dr. D. with a hog of a rainbow from the pound - we caught so many fish this size - it started to get silly.

Look at this pig - 5 pound plus-plus-plus

Another rainbow from the pond - landed with 5x tippet.

This is a pic of the spring creek - it produced nice numbers of big fish - can't wait until next year.

Happy faces on everyone after 5 days of spectacular fishing - definitely private water was the way to go - Torrey will be leading a group same time next year.
I will be adding more pictures as the group makes me copies of their digital pics.
