Free Streamer Tying Clinic w/ HRO guide Jim Plante, 10AM Sunday March 2nd, 2014
HRO Guide Jim Plante is a well-traveled fisherman who loves to teach fly fishing & fly tying, and he is also a signature fly designer for Rainy’s Flies (a purveyor of arguably some of the highest quality flies in the business). Jim is a subsurface minded angler so he really loves nymphing, but even more so in recent years he finds himself chucking big meaty streamers. Jim has a variety of patterns (mostly original) he uses to catch trout on different waters; local and non local. He will share some of these with you during this half day clinic. This clinic will focus on tying articulated and non-articulated streamers in different sizes. Show up with your vise, basic tools, assorted threads, and Jim will provide the materials & hooks. Please have at least basic tying skills. You will have an opportunity to pick Jim’s brain about how he approaches the waters when fishing streamers.

Free Small Nymph Tying Clinic w/ HRO guide Jim Plante, 10AM Sat. 2/15/14
Aside from chucking streamers, nymphing is my favorite way to fish for trout. Nymphs come in all shapes and sizes but some of your most productive nymphs come in the tiniest of packages. Small mayfly, caddis, and especially midge nymphs can make your day on the river go from slow to wow! Some tiers shy away from tying flys in small sizes due to strictly the size when some of my best days fishing have been on nymphs size 18-22! In this clinic, learn the skills to tie up an assorted selection of small nymph patterns ranging in sizes 18-22 that for sure will put more fish in your net. Bring your vise, tools, and assorted threads. Materials and hooks will be provided. -Jim
